Babysaurus Needs Your Votes!

Some of you may already know I setup a cloth nappy website called Babysaurus and could use some extra funds to help the website grow and the Babysaurus name out there. So I applied at Enterprise Nation's Funds 100 and told them my idea and looking for £500. It's not a huge amount but it'll do a buttload for the business so this is where you people come in and help me out.

Basically I need you to vote for Babysaurus. Every vote is worth £1. Don't worry you don't pay a single penny, it's free to vote and once I hit 500 votes I will have my funds and Babysaurus will be one happy dinosaur (he might even get a few dino friends to join him on his website!).

Please can you spare a bit of time to vote for Babysaurus on Enterprise Nation's website. You can Find Babysaurus' Funding Page here. I promise it won't take too long and it'll be a huge help for me and Babysaurus. Thank you!

My New Business and New Fluff

I have been bit lazy and not written much about cloth nappies so here goes...

First of all I have opened my own online store selling cloth nappies called Babysaurus and already doing fairly well. I've only got two brands currently up on the site but both of them are very much ones I trust in and can't wait to expand my store.

Today I got handed a big box by my mail man, which confused me at first but I knew I had been buying a few things online recently so figured it must be for me. Sure enough it had my name on it and then I saw the company's name on the box.

I instantly knew what was inside. My brand new Little Lamb Bamboo Nappy and Violet Baby Scents Magic Laundry Liquid! I've just pre-washed the nappy now but to give you an insight of what this nappy looks like here's a photograph of it, please ignore the crayon on our coffee table as Petit Boy has learnt you can colour ANYTHING and not just paper.

I have yet to give it a go but shall be putting it on to Petit Boy tomorrow morning with the Smart Fit wrap on. I've bought a Little Lamb wrap and two of their Microfibre nappies so they will be here in the next few days. I'm also waiting for two Itti Bitti D'lish nappies which are pre-loved and hope to have them up on Babysaurus in a few days time in the Pre-loved section.

If you have any pre-loved nappies you want rid of please contact me!

Mumpreneur - Carrie from Baby Swap or Shop

As the rise of the mumpreneur seems to be daily in the news we asked Carrie from Baby Swap or Shop what she is looking forward to in 2012 and whether she could share a few tips for other mums wanting to take the plunge into self-employment
.

What are you looking forward to in 2012?
I am looking forward to taking the website to a new level in terms of traffic as well as new features and the re-launch!

What are your goals?
To take our website to a high level and ultimately makes some money! I want to see BSOS become a household name...

What are the best things that have happened for you and your business in 2011?
Personally, and professionally - Got married in June and we have recruited staff and the website has gone a long way we have also launched a social media business - Picnic Media

What's your top tip to anyone thinking of starting a business in 2012?
Do your research, plan a strategy, don't expect an easy ride, work hard and hopefully be rewarded.

Where do you want to be in 5 years?
I would like to see BSOS being massive and possibly the introduction of Kids Swap or Shop and so on. I think taking the site from strength to strength, building a community of parents and making sure we offer a great place for parents to swap shop and communicate with each other.

What is the most important thing you've learnt this year - personally and professionally?
You can't take your foot off the gas!! You don't have time to be ill or go on holiday! ; ) (unless you have cover).

In the next month or so I will be dipping my feet into the world of self-employment as I open an online cloth nappy store as well as give free advice to parents online and help local parents try cloth nappies out within West Midlands. Wish me Luck!
