Children in Need - He Did It... The Results Are In!

Nearly a month ago I posted about my fiancé doing his bit for Children in Need. Well yesterday he went off to meet his boss and co-worker of Geek-Guru Ltd and came back with no hair at all. Want proof?

 Sadly I was unable to be there as Petit Boy had refused to have his day time nap and ended up falling asleep at 5:30pm so I was at home with him. But this video gave me an idea of what happened that faithful evening.

They also measured the ponytail as this will be donated to Little Princess Trust who work with children undergoing treatment for cancer and have suffered hair loss by making human hair wigs, something that can really help boost the confidence of a child. The length? It was an impressive 22 inches long! 

Currently we have raised over £500 - That's £300 over his target! Wow, thanks everyone!

Children in Need - Build-a-Bear Workshop

We were offered the chance to build our very own Pudsey bear and well... we couldn't say no! Our nearest store is in Birmingham's Bullring which isn't far at all and decided to make it a day for the whole family to enjoy.

Following the success of last year’s campaign that sold over 11,500 bears, Pudsey and Blush Bear are back and now available at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores nationwide. The bears are £15 (£5 goes to Children in Need) and then you can pick all sorts of accessories.

In 2010, Build-A-Bear Workshop donated a bear-illiant (get it?!) £135,000 to BBC Children in Need through the sale of Pudsey and Blush Bear and this year they’re hoping to do even better with the addition of new clothing for the furry pair. Every penny raised helps to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.

We decided to make a Pudsey and the lovely lady who helped us out was fantastic in showing us how you build your very own Pudsey. She showed us the machine where you can pick a voice for your bear if you wanted one. I saw a Star Wars button... I was tempted but passed on the chance of having our very own Jedi Pudsey.

We then went to the machine where you pick a heart for your bear. Both Alex and I gave the heart a big kiss and placed it into Pudsey. Sadly the stuffing machine was loud and Alex got upset by it, however he loved the fact they had flashing lights inside the machine!

Up next was deciding whether we wanted our Pudsey to be naked or get him some clothes. I felt a bit bad leaving him all naked, even though he is very soft and cuddly. There are tons of outfits to decide on and brilliant accessories. Did you know you can get a wheelchair for your bear? Brilliant idea! But we decided on the Children in Need PJs. We could have gotten some slippers but we knew Alex would remove them and lose them so just left Pudsey in PJs. For the PJs £1 was donated to Children in Need.

Once you have made your bear and clothed it then it is time to give it a certificate which was printed out and given to us to keep.

Thanks to Children in Need & Build-a-Bear Workshop for showing us how to make a Pudsey. We really had a blast and certainly would recommend Build-a-Bear Workshop. I also feel the need to show you this picture as well.

Children in Need - Fancy a Spot of Cake?

I wrote about a week ago how we are doing out bit for Children in Need by cutting all my other half's hair off. So when I was contacted about helping promote Children in Need by their lovely PR I was more than happy to help them out. So you will be seeing a few blog posts about Children in Need on my blog which will be live on BBC on Friday 18th November.

This blog post is about the Fancy a Spot of Cake App on their Facebook page. Here's some information sent to me:

This year, for the first time ever, BBC Children in Need has launched its very own Facebook app titled ‘Fancy a Spot of Cake’ to help raise money for the charity. The aim of the app is to build the largest digital cake through user donations. It’s not only a first for the charity, but the first time any charity has received donations directly through Facebook. 

The charity’s partnership with PayPal has enabled access to cutting edge technology to create a seamless experience of interacting with the cake whilst securely donating money.By donating £1, £5, £10 or £20 a user can purchase various items to add to the cake via PayPal. With every donation received via the app, users add their very own layer, filling or decoration to the cake. 

Once they have donated, they can share it with friends by posting updates to their Facebook wall and telling everyone about it on twitter using #CiNcake. After donating, Facebook users are tagged on their own personal contribution of the cake, encouraging friends to join them.In addition to user created layers, BBC Children in Need will be releasing special layers featuring exclusive footage from BBC shows. Current confirmed special layers include popular BBC programmes such as The One Show, EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, and The Graham Norton Show plus special footage of the BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical performances from the London’s West End. 

The 'Fancy a Spot of Cake' app was created and designed by Independents United and built by Gamaroff Digital.

 So let's make the biggest digital cake for a very good cause. You can add a spot to the cake for £1, pillars/filling/icing/sponge for £5, add Pudsey or Blush for £10 or create your very own tier for £20. Currently the cake is just about to hit £900 and is only the size of a person (average 1.7 meters). How about we kick this cake up to... the size of Big Ben? Or maybe as tall as Snowdon? Go on it's totally worth it!

Need to change the name of the Graham's show to "The Pudsey Show" it seems!

Children In Need - We're Doing Our Bit!

When I say "we" I guess what I really mean is my fiancé is doing his bit, I'm just pimping him out to help get to his target of £200.

No helmet can hold back the hair!

For the last 12 years my fiancé has had long hair, longer than mine has ever been. He has had a few trims to tidy it up once every blue moon (read: very rarely) but lately he has been saying to me that he's fed up of his long hair. He also wanted to do something for Children In Need this year and his Twitter fan-base and friends seemed to all agree on the idea of shaving all his hair off... so that's what he's going to do!

Bestest Daddy Ever...est!
