What I Wore Wednesday (and Thursday) - Joe Browns

This week I got to spend time with Charlotte aka The Mummy Blogger and her lovely daughter by doing some crafts with the kiddies. For once the sun was out so I grabbed my Joe Browns clothes to show off and feel super stylish in.

Let Love Blossom Vest

I don't normally wear vests as for a long time I had a bit of a thing about showing my chest due to the accident when I was very little but over the last few years the scar has faded and now I'm not so paranoid about it. It also helped that at CybHer this year I was told I was a 28DD and not the 32B that I thought I was so kind of a boost really. This vest fits nicely and the fabric isn't too thick so perfect for warm weather.

Must Have Basic Black Jeans

I've owned one pair of white jeans and I can tell you now that whoever thought white jeans was a good idea probably has an amazing cleaner who does their laundry for them and I certainly would never recommend a mother to buy white jeans. Anyway I have a thing for black slim jeans and these fit me so perfectly! I knew I wasn't a size 8 any more so I got the size 10 and they aren't too big but not tight on me either. I can wear boots or trainers with these and they look good no matter what shoes I'm in!

I'm a big fan of hand-made products and use to make jewellery in my bedroom as I had to give up my job seeker's allowance because they were being prats rather mean about my situation (long story but basically if you live where there's no buses or trains and don't own a car then you're stuffed when comes to the JSA). I use to buy lots of hand-made stuff back when I started blogging many MANY years ago (has it really been 10 years since I started blogging? Wow...) and now I want to show you some amazing products made here in the UK buy crafty brits. I shall hopefully be doing this weekly so stay tuned!

I'm a sucker for art but this lady has so many pretty wall art inspired by her allotment. They are originals so only got 1 of each in stock and cost just £8.25 each so you could have maybe 3 of these in your hallway to give a bit of British wildlife into your home. Check out Littlebirdy Designs for all her work.

These days finding a knitted cardigan isn't easy and when you do find one they aren't cheap so this is where you find British at it's best as there are loads of amazing knitters out there. I picked this one because it's well crafted and non-gender specific, perfect if you hare keeping it a secret or if you want something that can be used for future kids. And for under £4 it's a bargain!

Finally I found this beauty. Okay it's expensive but I want to show a mixture of prices and products you can find made by British people. I'm a fan of the space stuff as it's a whole area that is beyond our wildest dreams and kids always dream and imagine such wonderful things. For £75 you can get this hand-painted table and two chairs. Sadly it's collection only but if you live nearby then grab it before it's too late... go on!

I also have back-up boots incase it's not the right weather for my shoes or if I get tired of being in heels. Seriously these are really comfortable and although they cost £35 second hand they are normally £70 brand new so I still got myself a good bargain there for shoes that look fab and feel great. I'm also going to grab some back-up tights incase it's a bit too cold. Perhaps I should wear skin coloured ones under these ones to hide my frozen chicken thighs?

Also I will have pink hair. I've finally been able to strip as much of my "black" hair off. Woohoo!

A Secret to High Heels?

It's not secret that I'm a short lady (hint in the blog name) and I must admit I don't fully embrace my height as well I probably should. I love fashion but with lack of money and my body size I simply just wear whatever I can afford that will fit... sort of. One of the things I would love to wear are high heels but having spent all my life wearing trainers and flats my feet are just too soft and sensitive for the likes of pretty heels. Or are they?

I may be a bit of a geek, but I love alternative fashion and I love feeling good about myself. This includes being able to wear pretty shoes and so far have yet to do this without pretending the tears dripping down my face are because I bit my tongue when really it's because I've gained at least one blister or each foot within the first hour of putting them on. What am I doing wrong, ladies? I'm a UK size 5 and have rather slim feet. I've tried all sorts of brands and even insoles to help, but no matter what I always find myself with blisters and very sore.  Also how do you walk with them? Infact how do you walk with them on whilst pushing a pushchair around town? I just can't master the skill of high heel shoes or even boots for that matter!

Tell me your shoe secrets... help a 5'2" young lady feel a few inches taller minus the unhappy feet.
