Our Washing Situation REVISITED

Things have moved around in our lounge-dining-washing room which seems to work much better for us. Of course the place still looks a mess mostly due to Baby Al taking over and learning to open DVD boxes. Oh and we bought him a new toy which does take some space but it's so much fun!

Video: Thank You Maclaren and Mummy-Tips.com

This video is mostly for Maclaren and Sian (Mummy-Tips.com) who ran an awesome competition. As you can see our little monster is happy with our prize of a Maclaren Object of Design stroller, Dylan Candy Bar. This was done as a collaboration with Ralph Lauren's daughter, Dylan Lauren, taking on her bright and notable candy bars used in her US stores and her products.

Thanks very much!

Learning to Walk

I made these short clips for my parents really, but wanted to add them to my blog. They are about 1 week apart and you can see his confidence has grown so much!

The first video was about a week ago, just before my parents went on holiday.

And this was taken this week.

Normally I don't blow my own horn about my son but can't help but feel so proud of how well he has been doing. His personality is showing through very nicely... just wish we'd have less tantrums. I'll post about the problems we have been having lately but it includes lots of bashing head against whatever is nearby.

Ebay - Goodbye Baby Clothes

I do like to reuse clothes and have kept some of my son's outfits that mean something to me or I know could be used again when we have another child or if a family member wants some cute boy outfits. But we are seeing ourselves with huge bags of clothes that are taking far too much room and seems unfair to ask Grandparents to use their attic space just to keep tons of baby clothes.

So this weekend I found a few that I figured should go on Ebay. Some never got worn as I totally forgot about them! I think in the future you will be seeing lots of baby shoes on my Ebay account. I love his Clarks shoes but they won't last long and would rather anything that isn't too badly damaged gets used by another family who might be like us and can't afford to keep buying brand new stuff all the time.

Do check my Ebay account out... please?

Wedding - Did I Just Buy A Dress?!

I'm lucky to live very close to the town centre and this also includes a wedding outlet store that sells lots of expensive dresses for amazing sale prices. Every now and then I see a dress, dream of myself wearing it and then the next time I walk past it has gone. But for a month now a certain dress has been in the window of the store that I same myself in and when I noticed it hadn't been sold yet I knew it was calling for me.

I was able to try it on the next day and apart from my usual problems (I'm petite so I'm always expecting straps to be shortened and my bust isn't massive either) the dress looked lovely on me. Of course I didn't want to make a mistake so I tried another dress that I liked the look of but the shape made me look like a stick with a head attached. I just knew the dress I had been looking at in the shop window for so long was the one for me... so I bought it!

Yes I know, how crazy am I? I must have been in that shop for at the very most 25 minutes and only tried a total of 2 wedding dresses. I still can't believe I just did it and paid the full price without any fear at all.

Naturally I shall not be showing any pictures of the dress, mostly because my fiancé reads my blog and he's not allowed to see it, but also I want you all to guess what I have picked... I like to leave you all pondering!

I believe most women pick a venue first and then the other bits like flowers and dress, but I seem to have gone the opposite way around as I still have no clue where or when we'll get married!

Wish me luck!

Small Steps

Sorry I have been so quiet but I thought I'd show you a short video to explain what's been happening to the Petit Household.

Moved everything around so we can now see outside from one of our balcony doors and Alex loves to stand infront of it and watch all the cars and buses go by. It also is a lot better for him to crawl and walk around now. I know in the video it looks a mess but that's always the case when a little one is awake... toys will be EVERYWHERE until they go to bed - even then we always end up finding a run-away Mega Blok somewhere.

I guess I should start looking at reins soon as I want him to be able to walk outside with me without the fear of him rushing off into a busy road, he's more confident walking on his own then he is being held one handed by us.

Pacifier Weaning

Okay I took the first step of ridding the soothers. I don't mind him all that much having it when going to a nap or at bed time, but I get tired of him constantly sucking on it all through the day when he really doesn't need it.

His love of the soother showed at The Baby Show.

Today we went out to the shops and I decided this would be a good time to take it away from him. We left the house at just before 4pm with no pacifier. He was a bit grumpy at first but once we got to Tesco he was playful and smiling loads. When we got home he didn't seem bothered about lack of a dummy so since he had been so good I gave him a treat.

"Can I play Assassin's Creed with Daddy, please?"

Sadly he did get grumpy just as I was getting him ready for bed and was a handful to get his PJs on, but he was calm after a kiss from daddy and a big cup of milk followed by his long-lost buddy... Mr Pacifier.

I do hope to rid of the dummy before he turns 2 years old so this is the start of a process I can bet will not be fun or easy!

Washing at Petit Mom's

And insight of on how we wash our clothes and nappies... we don't own a tumble drier so this is what we do! Any advise would be great on how we can improve this madness as it's just taking over our living area.
