I must BLEND!

In my last blog entry I said I was going to go grab a blender from Asda if they had them in stock. They had their hand blender in stock for just £4.18!!!

It was getting a bit busy in the supermarket so I rushed to see what fruit and veg they had but most of what I was looking for were out of stock. I will be giving it a trial soon enough though! So many ideas in my head already for breakfast and tea time.

I'm becoming a bit of a bargain hunting fanatic. I get so excited when I go into a supermarket and see a product that is cheaper or is more expensive compared to another store. Weird, huh? I found Petit Filous 6 pack of 50g pots in Morrisons for just 75p, it's on this week's offer it would seem. However in Asda it's £1.50 for the same product. Our boy just loves the taste of these yogurts but I am considering giving home-made a try as sugar in these is fairly high. But I am most certainly getting overly hyper of finding great deals for the three of us when comes to food shopping.

I have also started to give our little lad some follow on milk. He is still on the hungrier milk at night time though as this change has just started and was a bit wary about changing his whole day and feeds too suddenly. Heck yesterday we changed his bedtime routine slightly by adding brushing of his teeth, but it went very well and he even held the brush and put it in his mouth. of course I had to do the brushing action as he thought it was a chew toy, but still it felt like he was taking part!

Whoops I missed one!

Yesterday I was playing with the little one and he was giving me some very big grins and giggles that showed off his lovely gums, but not just his gums!

A while back I blogged about the exciting moment of Baby Lex getting his first tooth poking it's way through on his bottom gum. Well it seems this tooth didn't like being alone and has brought a friend along side him! Both are still very small, however the first one is clearly further ahead then this newly made buddy sitting next to him. But they are most certainly growing and it's fantastic to notice the changes as they begin to ascend.

Today for lunch I'm going to try him on something a bit lumpy. Dinner needs to be quick today as once daddy has finished work we're off to the Supermarket to buy our dinner as well as do the weekly food shopping.

We are battling the question that many parents who are budgeting come across. Which way is cheaper for feeding our baby? Jarred food? Powdered food? Make your own? We are considering investing in a blender, but right now we're having to tighten all our belts up some more and be careful when it comes to buying stuff.

First tooth!

Alex is now 26 weeks old and this week he was very grumpy. I couldn't figure our why so I sat him on my lap and watched something on BBC iPlayer whilst I munched on my lunch. He has always enjoyed grabbing my hand or a finger and chewing on it but on Monday the chewing hurt! I felt something real sharp touch my finger twice and made me pull my finger out. I freaked at at first thinking something was in his mouth that I must get out. I was greeted by a the tip of a tooth poking it's way up through his lower gum. Poor thing was sore and was bleeding a little bit. I was so happy and was not expecting him to get his first tooth at 6 months old! Don't ask me why but I kind of figured teeth would appear later on, I never really looked into teething all that much myself except when speaking to my doctor when he was drooling all over the place at 4 months old.

So now he's learnt to stuck stuff into his mouth to bite onto to help soothe the pain. I've got him a teething ring also and shall be putting it in the fridge to cool down to help calm the pain a little for him.

He was weighed last week at 15lbs. To some that may seem small for his age but I'm small too and I wasn't expecting a large baby to pop out of me! He was 7lbs 4oz when born and he had a slight weight loss at 4 months old when we had trouble breastfeeding and ended up having to move him onto Hungry Formula milk. But now he's gaining and back on target, a relief that came to both my fiancĂ© and I. But at the last weigh in I was told to give him some mashed up food. I went and got some mashed up stuff and he had a hard time. Right now I've gone to using smooth food and and then every so often I'll try something a bit lumpier and try and persevere. with them so to get him use to lumps and learn to chew.
